Carrier Heat Pumps Qualify for Federal Tax Credit + NJ Rebates
Carrier 25VNA4 Infinity heat pumps qualify for the federal 25C $2,000 tax credit (CEE Tier 1, North zone) plus PSE&G Whole House Efficiency rebates up to $3,500. Combined incentives can reduce out-of-pocket by $4,500-$6,500 in 2026.
Calculate Your Carrier Rebates →The Carrier Advantage
Why millions of homeowners pay the Carrier premium for top- tier reliability and indoor air quality.
Greenspeed® Intelligence
Carrier's variable-speed inverter platform modulates between roughly 25% and 100% capacity based on actual demand instead of cycling on and off. This delivers up to 26 SEER2 cooling efficiency on the 24VNA6 — the highest residential rating in the major-brand category per ENERGY STAR Most Efficient certifications.
Top-Tier Reliability Record
Carrier ranks in the top reliability tier of the Consumer Reports 2024 central AC predicted-reliability survey. Our Union County field service data shows Infinity systems past 12 years still hit their original SEER ratings within 3-4% when serviced annually.
Indoor Air Quality Integration
The Infinity touch thermostat, Greenspeed humidity control, and MERV 13+ media filter integration give Carrier the strongest indoor-air-quality ecosystem in residential HVAC. This matters in NJ where summer humidity routinely runs 65- 80% and fall allergens drive winter respiratory complaints.
Bryant Sister-Brand Coverage
Carrier owns Bryant. The two brands share the same manufacturing facilities, compressors, coils, control boards, and factory testing — Bryant Evolution and Carrier Infinity are functionally identical equipment. Parts cross over between the two brands and our techs carry both reference manuals.
Carrier AC, Heat Pump, and Furnace Costs in NJ (2026)
Honest 2026 installed pricing across Union, Essex, Middlesex, and Hudson counties. Includes equipment, lineset, electrical, permits, and standard tie-in. No bait pricing.
2-ton 24ABB3 (13.4 SEER2 Comfort entry-level AC)
$5,800 – $8,200 installed. Best fit for 1,000-1,400 sq ft homes in Union and Essex counties where budget is the primary driver.
3-ton 24ACC6 (17 SEER2 Performance two-stage AC)
$7,800 – $10,800 installed. The mid-tier sweet spot for 1,500-2,000 sq ft NJ homes — two-stage cooling at moderate premium over single-stage.
3-ton 24ANB1 (19 SEER2 Infinity single-stage AC)
$9,200 – $12,400 installed. Infinity-tier reliability at single-stage simplicity — ideal where humidity control is not the primary goal.
4-ton 24VNA6 (26 SEER2 Infinity Greenspeed variable-speed)
$13,800 – $18,200 installed. Highest-efficiency residential Carrier. Best paired with Infinity touch thermostat for full Greenspeed Intelligence modulation.
4-ton 25VNA4 (19 SEER2 Infinity heat pump)
$14,200 – $18,800 installed. Qualifies for the federal 25C $2,000 tax credit and PSE&G Whole House Efficiency rebates of up to $3,500.
59MN7 modulating Infinity gas furnace (98.5% AFUE)
$5,400 – $8,200 installed. Modulating heat output, paired commonly with 24VNA6 or 24ANB1 air conditioners for full Infinity-system communication.
Add-on costs to expect: $400-$1,200 for new refrigerant lineset on R-410A to R-454B changeouts, $300-$800 for older home electrical upgrades to support modern Greenspeed inverter equipment, $400-$900 for Infinity touch thermostat replacement when full Greenspeed Intelligence is required. Costs above include labor at Union County rates and rise modestly in Hudson and Bergen counties.

Carrier vs Trane vs Lennox vs Goodman: Honest NJ Comparison
The four brands NJ homeowners ask about most before a $9K+ replacement. Real differences from a service tech who repairs all four.
Carrier
Top-tier reliability, longest historical record, strongest indoor-air-quality integration.
Strength: Top Consumer Reports 2024 reliability tier; 26 SEER2 ceiling on Infinity 24VNA6; Greenspeed humidity control.
Tradeoff: 10-year parts warranty cap; highest install cost; proprietary Infinity parts run higher on out-of-warranty repairs.
NJ install range: $5,800-$18,200.
Trane
Mid-to-premium price, strong TruComfort variable-speed platform, proprietary parts.
Strength: TruComfort variable-speed performance, well-regarded indoor-air-quality integration, top reliability tier.
Tradeoff: 10-year compressor warranty cap; proprietary parts can raise out-of-warranty repair bills similar to Carrier.
NJ install range: $6,800-$16,400.
Lennox
Highest peak SEER2 ceiling, smallest dealer network in NJ, premium pricing.
Strength: Signature Collection up to 28 SEER2 — the highest residential rating available; premium SunSource solar-ready models.
Tradeoff: Smallest NJ dealer network — parts speed can suffer during a hot July weekend; highest install cost in our market.
NJ install range: $7,200-$19,400.
Goodman
Best price-to-warranty ratio. Lifetime compressor coverage on registered premium models.
Strength: Lifetime compressor warranty, value pricing, Daikin-backed technology at value tier.
Tradeoff: Mid- tier reliability ranking. Capacitors and condensate components often need attention by year 7-9.
NJ install range: $5,200-$15,400.
Bottom line:
Choose Carrier if you want the broadest NJ dealer/parts ecosystem, top reliability, and the strongest indoor-air- quality integration via Infinity touch and Greenspeed humidity control. Choose Trane if you prefer TruComfort variable-speed at slightly lower cost. Choose Lennox if absolute peak efficiency (28 SEER2) is the priority and you have a strong local dealer relationship. Choose Goodman if budget is the primary driver and lifetime compressor warranty matters more than 2-3 extra service-life years.
Carrier Error Codes & What They Mean
Modern Carrier furnaces flash LED diagnostic codes on the control board (older units) or display text codes on the Infinity touch thermostat. Decode the most common codes before you call.
Code 13 – Limit switch lockout
Typical cause: dirty filter, blocked supply registers, closed dampers, or a seized blower wheel. The heat exchanger overheats and the limit switch shuts the system down. Replace the filter, open all supply registers, and the code typically clears on the next cycle. Full Carrier Code 13 diagnostic guide →
Code 14 – Ignition lockout
Typical cause: oxidized flame sensor, weak hot-surface ignitor, or gas valve failure. After 3 failed ignition attempts the board locks out for 1 hour. Sensor cleaning often resolves this on its own. Full Carrier Code 14 diagnostic guide →
Code 31 – High-pressure switch fault
Typical cause: blocked exhaust vent, inducer motor failure, or in summer mode a clogged condensate drain. Clear the condensate drain first; if the code persists, call a tech. Full Carrier Code 31 diagnostic guide →
Code 33 – Limit switch fault during normal operation
Heat exchanger overheating during a normal heating cycle. Different from code 13 (full lockout) — code 33 indicates the system is approaching the limit but has not locked out yet. Urgent diagnostic required. Full Carrier Code 33 diagnostic guide →
Code 34 – Ignition proving failure
Different from code 14 (lockout after 3 attempts) — code 34 means a single ignition cycle failed to prove flame on the sensor. Common causes: dirty flame sensor, gas valve problem, or low gas pressure. Full Carrier Code 34 diagnostic guide →
Infinity touch thermostat: communication fault
Indoor and outdoor controls cannot talk to each other. Common causes: corroded thermostat wire, failed Infinity control board, or a non-Infinity thermostat installed on an Infinity system. Greenspeed modulation will fall back to fixed-speed operation until the fault is cleared.
